Jokowi Camp Dissect Human Rights Issues with Komnas HAM

19 February 2019 12:46 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of the Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin campaign team (TKN) Arsul Sani fulfilled the invitation from National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) upon dissecting presidential candidates’ programs on human rights.

Komnas HAM Chairman Taufan Damanik explained the reason the commission offered to meet the presidential candidates, “Because this is not a debate, but a meeting meant to explore upon what has been designed,” said Taufan at his office in Menteng, Central Jakarta today.

Taufan added that the Komnas HAM hopes that this program dissection will be able to better explain to the public both presidential candidates’ commitment in the field of human rights.

He maintains that human rights issues should not only be understood by the public, but it must present accountability to those who have committed to it.

The two main discussions that will hopefully be committed by both Jokowi and Prabowo include solving severe human rights violations in the past and their commitment to agrarian reform.

Prabowo Subianto’s campaign team is scheduled to a similar meeting tomorrow on Wednesday, February 20.
